Divergent - adj.{dih-vur-juh nt}

Having no finite limits; Seizing opportunities to realize potential; Challenging the status quo;
Changing course to find  a better path than the crowd;  Embracing diverse views to get to a better outcome.

What is unique about us?

  • Credibility and courage to challenge.

With deep experience at senior levels Divergent & Co will fearlessly hold a mirror up to leaders and ask them how they need to change to achieve the strategy goals they have set.

  • Deep and diverse experience.

Our partners and associates have decades of experience across a wide range of organisations and industries.

  • Global perspective, local knowledge.

We bring significant international experience forming global benchmarks of leadership and organizational performance.  We have a global network of associates to support your organizations thinking and aspirations.  We have also worked at the most senior levels in some of NZ's most iconic companies, building an understanding of the unique demands of the local market.

  • Understanding strategic context

We start with the strategic drivers for your organisation and work back from there to capability, structure, leadership and culture.

  • Independent and eclectic

One size does not fit all and we are wary of those who feel one tool or proprietary model holds all the solutions.  Rather than selling you our way of doing things, we will work with the grain of what works best for your organization.  We are pragmatic in how we adapt our skills and methods to suit our clients.

Mark has over 15-years’ experience in leadership consulting and organisational development, including a decade working in London at senior levels in large, blue-chip global companies.  He has worked with leaders to improve organisational performance across a range of sectors including financial services, energy, retail, telecommunications, FMCG, building and construction.

His primary focus is helping organisations build the capability required to achieve long-term goals.  This has included, but is not limited to: talent strategy, assessment and working with executive teams to understand and addresses the cultural drivers of organisational performance. In addition, he specialises in senior leadership team effectiveness, linking personal development with the establishment and achievement of strategic goals.

As well as working for a global leadership consultancy, Mark spent two years at Barclays bank, where he successfully led leadership interventions in the UK retail division.  Mark first worked with Jo over 10-years ago, while developing internationally recognised leadership development programmes at the Royal Bank of Scotland.  More recently, he has collaborated with her during her time as Head of Organisational Development and Leadership at Fletcher Building.

Mark commenced his career in the public service as a Clinical Psychologist, operating both in New Zealand and abroad, where he worked at both the Maudsley Hospital and Kings College.  This provided a strong practical and theoretical foundation that enables individuals he collaborates with to develop meaningful self-insight, personal change and growth.  Outside of work, he devotes what little spare time he has to his partner, three young children and his passion for food, wine, the sea and snow.
